Travel Super Visa
With a Canadian Super Visa, parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents can travel to Canada and stay with their relatives for up to two years at a time. The Super Visa is a multi-entry visa that provides multiple entries for a period up to 10 years. The key difference is that the Super Visa allows an individual to stay for up to two years at a time in Canada, while a 10-year multiple entry visa would only have a status period for each entry of six months only.
This visa is for parents and grandparents of permanent residents or Canadian citizens. The parent or grandparent must be considered admissible to Canada and meet other conditions.
Here are a few points to consider before getting a super visa:
• How long does it take to apply for a Super Visa?
• How much income is required for a Super Visa?
• How much does a Super Visa cost?
• Does a Super Visa require a medical inquiry?
To be eligible, children or grandchildren must provide a letter of invitation and meet minimum income requirements. Parents and grandparents then submit this letter along with proof they have obtained Canadian medical insurance. Super Visa insurance also must meet minimum requirements and must cover at least one year from the date of entry to Canada.
Visitors to Canada
The Government of Canada does not pay for hospital or medical services for visitors. Visitors must get health insurance to cover any medical costs before they come to Canada.
Whether it is for work, for school, to spend time with family living here or simply to tour the country, visitors must make sure they are well protected for their trip to Canada.
Insurance for visitors to Canada covers emergency medical and dental costs in case of illness or accident.
Visitors must consider the following:
• Length of time of their visit
• How much does travel insurance cost based on their age and health condition
• How much does it cost to see a doctor in Canada without insurance?
• What happens if you get sick in Canada?
• The cost of emergency care in Canada?
Make sure you have the coverage your need to prevent unforeseen bills.
Canadians traveling out of province
Did you know that traveling out of province within Canada will not automatically cover you for insurance in case of a medical emergency?
Costs that may not be covered include air and ground ambulance, emergency dental treatment and prescription drug expenses. Therefore, having the proper insurance coverage can help protect you against higher costs associated with emergencies.
Important things to consider if you are planning a trip within Canada:
• What happens if you extend your trip?
• Your current health conditions
• Are you family members covered if they are traveling with you?
• Are there deductibles for travel insurance?
• Can you get an income tax receipt for travel insurance premiums?
• How will a pre-existing health condition affect your travel insurance?
Before you travel research the requirements for your situation.
